WHAT ARE DISSOCIATIVE DISORDERS?

Dissociative disorders involve problems with memory, identity, emotion, perception, behavior and sense of self. Dissociative symptoms can potentially disrupt every area of mental functioning.

Examples of dissociative symptoms include the experience of detachment or feeling as if one is outside one’s body, and loss of memory or amnesia. Dissociative disorders are frequently associated with previous experience of trauma.

There are three types of dissociative disorders:

-Dissociative identity disorder
-Dissociative amnesia
-Depersonalization/derealization disorder

DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER
Since we are a system, we have a type of Dissociative Identity Disorder.
There are three types of systems.
OSDD-1B, OSDD-1A and DID systems.

DID systems have distinct alters that highly differentiate from each other and they experience dissociative amnesia. Which means when another akter is fronting, if nobody else is co-conscious, the things that that alter does will only be in that alters memory.

OSDD-1A systems don't have distinct alters, their alters are quite alike. For example, in DID or OSDD-1B systems, you can have non-human alters, but in OSDD-1A alters are all human and they are hard to differentiate. They do experience amnesia, though.

OSDD-1B systems have distinct alters but they don't experience amnesia. What they do experience is emotional amnesia which means other alters won't have the same attachment/feelings towards a certain events if they didn't experience the thing themselves.

Being polyfragmanted means having more than 100 alters. The intros that we made are for the most active alters within the system.

All dissociative disorders form from trauma. You can only be a system if you have experienced severe or repeating trauma during the ages 6-9 and/or you were disattached from your primary caregivers. Traumagenic system means that the system formed becaude of trauma.
